Monument to Muslim Warriors to Be Erected in Romania
The Chamber of Deputies – lower chamber of the Parliament of Romania approved a bill that stipulates to construct a monument to the Muslim warriors fallen for Romania during the World War I and World War II.
215 MPs of out 220 voted for this bill that was submitted by the Romanian MP, member of the Democratic Union of Turkish-Muslim Tartars in Romania Aledin Amet, QHA informs.
50 thousand Romanian leu (approximately USD 16,6 thousand) are planned to allocate to construction of a monument from the 2010 state budget. And now the Romania’s President Traian Basescu’s signature is needed so that this law will enter into force. It is considered that it will not any problem with the presidential signing because he was born in the Crimean Tatar village of Murfatlar near Constantsa.
Romania was ally of the tsarist Russia during the World War I and she was ally of Germany during the World War II. Thousands of warriors – the Crimean Tatars who living in Romania and the Turks from Asia Minor killed in actions of these wars.
