Over 21 tons of meat of the sacrificial animals were distributed among the poor people by Islamic Cultural Centres “Alraid” during the festive days of Eid al-Adha; and that figure doesn’t count the meat donated by the believers in private.

21,000 kilograms of meat from the cattle that was purchased with charity donated by Muslim parishioners at the mosques of Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Umma”, and with financial support from a Muslim Charity from Germany called MuslimeHelfen.

Sacrificial meat is usually divided in three parts of equal value and quality. One of those parts can be left by the charity contributor for themself and their own family; the other part is used to cook festive treats for friends and relatives, and the third part is distributed among the poor and needy. Still, many people opt for donating all of it for the needy. It is by virtue of donations from the believers of RAMU “Umma” only “Alraid” Islamic Cultural Centres distributed 21,350 kg of beef and mutton over the past weekend.

Noteworthy, Kyiv Islamic Cultural Centre distributed over 2 tons of meat as early as during the first day of Eid. Overall amount of meat that Kyiv parishioners of RAMU “Umma” distributed over the holidays reached the mark of 14,950 kg!

As reported by RAMU “Umma” official website, its communities is other Ukrainian cities were as much as generous. Thus, they distributed 435 kg in Zaporizhzhia, 500 kg in Vinnytsia, 3,750 kg in Kharkiv, 250 kg in Sumy, 425 kg in Lviv, over 600 kg on Odesa and 350 kg in Dnipro.

Still, this is far from being the overall figure of meat donated by all the Ukrainian Muslims on the past Eid, for other religious organisations, as well as ethnic and many private individuals, communities committed the sacrifice on their own account. That figure doesn’t even include the meat distributed by RAMU “Umma”s smaller communities.

God Almighty says in the Holy Qur’an: “Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you. Thus have We subjected them to you that you may glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and give good tidings to the doers of good. Indeed, Allah defends those who have believed. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone treacherous and ungrateful” [22:37–38].
