The CONSCIENCE INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT brings together non-governmental public organisations from around the world and people of goodwill, regardless of their religions, languages, color and gender. The CONSCIENCE calls on all concerned to demonstrate civil and peaceful efforts to free women and children detained and imprisoned by the Assad regime during the civil war.

Today, activists from the CONSCIENCE INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT urge to sign the petition, demanding freedom for the women, imprisoned by the Assad regime.

As of today, about 7,000 people, including public and political figures, activists of non-governmental non-profit organisations, and non-indifferent people from Ukraine, Great Britain, Indonesia, Georgia, Malaysia, Congo, Afghanistan, Brazil, Ecuador, and others countries, have signed the petition.

In particular, the CONSCIENCE MOVEMENT states as follows:

“We are repeatedly warned in all religious and moral texts not to fight or in the case of war to respect for human, moral and legal rules and obligations. Although, almost all of the countries are parties of military law, engaged us by international conventions, at the present time, ever- violent crimes against humanity continue to be committed in the war-torn areas, demeaning to the common sense. And we can neither punish those who commit these crimes, nor stop these cruel practices”.

The Manifest also refers to those crimes have been committed during the cruel war since March 2011 in Syria.

“During the Syrian war, we have been witnessing numerous war crimes and crimes against the humans and the humanity. We watched live painful deaths of children who were killed by prohibited chemical and biological weapons, and barrel bombs. Tortures, rape, executions, mass murders, mass graves, deportation of millions of people and many other forms of cruelty have happened there... More than one million people died during the war in Syria. 76,000 Syrians, including women and children, whose fate is completely unknown, are listed as MISSING! To date, 13,581 women are in jails and 6,736 women are still tortured and raped in prisons every day. The Syrian regime has been still using rape of women as a weapon. In addition, the number of prisoners detained in abandoned factories, hangars, other buildings, used as prisons, is unknown. Some women were arrested while pregnant and gave birth in prisons. Some women were taken from home and casted into prison along with their children ... Some women were repeatedly raped in places of detention and had to give birth to children who were the result of those rapes. ”

The UN Independent International Syrian Research Commission noted that only a handful of sexual violence cases were reported for reasons, such as a social stigma and traumas.

The CONSCIENCE INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT seeks to highlight the rapidly growing number of disadvantaged women, forced to become refugees, or being subjected to torture, rape, and execution in prisons since the beginning of the war in Syria. The Movement also makes every effort to be recognized and to initiate the release of all girls and women-prisoners, who are being tortured in prison because of the Syrian war. In this regard the Movement appeals to all of mankind for "taking effective measures to protect women during wars."

In addition to signing the petition, “You can follow the events we will announce, take part in them if you can come, or tell about them to those who can participate to. You have the opportunity to tell your friends and acquaintances about the the Conscience Movement’s efforts and about the women, detained, in Syrian prisons. You can send emails with this information. You can share multimedia or articles, telling about the imprisoned Syrian women on social networks. ” – it says on its website.

In 2018, the Conscience International Movement initiated and held the Convoy of Conscience, which thousands of women activists from 55 countries of the world (including Ukraine) participated in. Its participants were representatives of many different NGOs, women's organisations and women followers of different ideas and ideologies. Within the three-day campaign they arrived in the city of Antakya, which is located in the Turkish Hatay province bordering Syria, and walked along the Syrian border with a united emblem and appeal to save Syrian female prisoners and protect women and children during wars.

Let us recall, that activists of the Conscience International Movement, in particular, Nalan Dal, the fundraising coordinator at the Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief; Dima Moussa, the American lawyer and human rights activist of Syrian origin (born in Homs), member of the alternative government of Syria outside the country; Munira Subašić (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the President of the Mothers of Srebrenica Association; Anadolu journalist Meryem Goktesh (Turkey) visited our country in 2018. Together with the Ukrainian Muslim activists, members of women's organisation "Maryam" and the Ukrainian Muslimahs’ League, who participated in the Convoy of Conscience, had an audience with Patriarch Filaret; met with the spiritual leader of the Ukrainian Muslims - Mufti of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine "Ummah" Sheikh Said Ismagilov; communicated with the Ukrainian parliamentarians in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and also participated in the International Women's Forum, held by the Ukrainian Muslimahs’ League, and participated in a number of meetings at Kyiv Islamic Cultural Center.

Syria's main opposition group accused the government of "massacring" more than 1,300 people in chemical weapons attacks near Damascus on Wednesday, August 21, saying about 650 victims choked to death, including women and children.

The activists the attack was carried out applying “rockets with warheads containing poisonous gas”.

The accusation came as a team of UN inspectors was in Syria to probe previous allegations of three similar onslaughts allegedly carried out by Syrian regime last year.

The claim of chemical weapons use, which could not be independently confirmed, was vehemently denied by the Syrian regime which said it was intended to hinder the work of the UN weapons inspectors already in the country.

Calls For Investigation
Britain, France and the United States sought an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the allegations and asked the UN experts to visit accident scene.

EU also said the allegations "should be immediately and thoroughly investigated."

"We have seen with grave concern the reports of the possible use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime. Such accusations should be immediately and thoroughly investigated," a spokesman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said.

UK, France and League of Arab States came up with similar request.
