RAMC Won’t Change Location Of The Future Cathedral Mosque

Religious Administration of muslims of Crimea called upon politicians and public figures to stop the price gouging over erecting the Cathedral Mosque (Juma-Jami) in Simferopol. This matter is within the competence of RAMC.

According to the Deputy Mufty Mr.Ayder Ismailov, Crimean Muslims determined the place for the mosque once and for all, and 180.000 stones donated by the parishioners for erecting mosque exactly on 22 Yaltins’ka Str. speak for themselves.

“This matter was settled with Crimean Authorities and if now off the agenda. As for the building process, this is the matter within competence of the RAMC, so everyone must mind their own business. And in case you have no constructive proposal, it’s wrong to speculate over this matter just to keep yourself in the information torrent, it flatters no man,” — commented Mr.Ismailov, referring to statement of Mr.Seytumer Nimetullaev (head of social organisation “Qırım Birligi”) on the necessity of building the Cathedral Mosque near the airport.

According to Deputy Mufti, such statements bring confusion to the life of Crimean Tatar community and impair the stability of the society.

“We call upon every politician to act for the good of the people of Crimea. If he is a Muslim and a Crimean tatar, or positions himself as such, he must, besides everything else, think abou the interests of Muslims, of Crimean Tatars. We have to be a factor of stability, it’s necessary for all the people living in Crimea, and such statements bring confusion to the life of Crimean Tatar community and impair the stability of the society. I think that people who speak such words must feel their responsibility for social unrest caused by them, this is by no means an affirmative approach,” — Ayder Ismailov said.

“It seems that the politician who has spent many years working beyond Crimea doesn’t know the situation, as only 28.000 Muslims live near the Airport and erecting a mosque with the capacity to accommodate 30 to 40 thousand Muslims is unpractical.”

It was reported earlier that Mr.Seytumer Nimetullaev, head of social organisation “Qırım Birligi”, told the Media that grounds in Simferopol aren’t suitable for erecting such a large religious building, the RISU reports linking to QHA.

Ramadan Pavilion Gathered 500 Muslims for Iftar in Simferopol

Public iftar held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Islamic Cultural Centre (ICC) of Simferopol gathered 500 people. Such events will be held at the “Alraid” Crimean ICC on Tuesdays during the whole month of Ramadan on a regular basis.

Before it was time to break the fast and do the evening prayer Resim Dervishev gave his lecture on merits of fasting and it’s positive impact on physical and spiritual health of the one fasting.

The atmosphere in the Centre was rather homy and cosy; the whole families came to join the public iftaar together. The believers performed evening and night prayers together along with the supplementary prayer Taraweeh. After the evening prayer Maghrib everybody had a full and tasty meal and enjoyed the communication with people around. They greeted their friends and made some new ones.

Joint iftars are held in the ICCs in different Ukrainian cities during Ramadan. Every community makes decision in their own how often they can handle events like these, regarding their conditions and possibilities.

Kyiv ICC, in particular, opens its doors for public iftars every Friday.

Religiosity can be revived without confrontation: Crimean experience

Organization of annual scientific and practical conferences and round tables has become a tradition for the All-Ukrainian Association of Public Organizations (AAPO) “Alraid”. These events bring together scientific elite of this multiconfessional and multinational peninsula, as they offer a platform for scientists, professors and staff from research institutes and laboratories for exchanging experiences and results of their scientific search.

The next round table “Mutual influence of cultures as a factor of ethnic and confessional accord in Crimea”, held on June, 5, 2012 in the Islamic Cultural Center of Simferopol (7a, Mokrousov str.), was devoted to the Science Day in Ukraine.

The role of mediator was taken by Alexand Aybabin, doctor of history. In his address he emphasized that organization of this event devoted to mutual influence of cultures in the “Alraid” premises has already been a good tradition.

Ethnic and confessional dialogue in Crimea has been on for years. Like seeds thrown on the fertile soil, it germinates and brings fruits.

Example for descendants in ancestors’ practices

Dr. Andrey Nikiforov, dean of the Tavrichesky National University, made a historical review of ancient, medieval, Christian and Muslim phases in the development of the Crimean peninsula. In his report “Dynamics of ‘Christian-Muslim’ geopolitical cycle in the Black Sea region” he stressed that our historical ancestors could coexist in peace and accord, so we are but obliged to preserve peace on our peninsula.

An exciting report about the dialogue as a factor for harmonizing confessional relations in Crimea was delivered by Dr. Zarema Khairetdinova, dean of the cathedra for cultural studies at the Tavrichesky National University. This cognitive information was harmonically added by the report of Dr. Oksana Mironova, dean of the cathedra for judicial medicine, about implications of religious injunctions for norms of secular law, illustrated by information on daily practices of the Crimean peninsula.

Tolerance as an intrinsic feature of Islam

The theme of tolerance in Islam at this round table was dealt with in a comprehensive manner. Mr. Ali Mohammad Taha, chairman of “Alraid” in Crimea, spoke about issues of fostering tolerance in the context of Medina Constitution.

Mr. Said Izmagilov, Mufti of the Religious Administration of Muslim of Ukraine (RAMU)“Ummah”, post-graduate student of the cathedra for philosophy and religious studies of the State University for Informatics and Artificial Intellect, explicated the theme “Islam in the context of mutual influence of cultures”, whereas Victor Gankevich, professor of the Tavrichesky National University, spoke about ethnic and religious situation in Bakhchisaray in times of the rule of Ismail Gasprinsky.

Although the reports were delivered in a brief and concise form, everyone engaged in their discussion. This allowed for investigating discussed issues in various dimensions and offering best solutions, and to consider the discussed practices for further scientific investigations.

Concluding the event, the “Alraid” chairman congratulated the discussion contributors with the Day of Science in Ukraine and handed them memorial gifts. Publication of a book of scientific works brought to the round table is planned.

In Simferopol Opened Exhibition "Crimea in Creativity of Artists of First Half of XX-th Century"

In the Crimean Republican Establishment "The Crimean-Tatar arts museum" the exhibition "Crimea in creativity of artists of the first half of XX-th century" was opened. It is dated for the 45th anniversary of the exhibition "Artists depicting Crimea" which took place in art gallery of the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The action was organized by the Social Organization on preservation of Islamic monuments "Azizler", the Ministry of Culture of the ARC, the CRE "The Crimean-Tatar arts museum".

The exposition included more than 100 works of art, photos and manuscripts from funds of the CRE "Simferopol art museum", CRE "Bakhchsarai historical and cultural reserve" and private collection of the writer, the veteran of the Crimean-Tatar national movement, Idris Asanin.

On the exposition you can see the artworks of known Crimean masters of painting and graphic V.Yanovsky, K.Bogaevskiy, A.Kuprin, E.Nagaevskaya, P.Chesnokov, A.Mogilevskiy, B.Smirnov, and also water colors of the Leningrad artists - Nina and Alfons Zhaba.

As it was noted by the employees of the museum, the theme of Crimea passed through all creativity of these authors. Depicting in the beginning of the XX-th century ancient monuments of the Crimean-Tatar architecture, their condition, the artists managed to find various figurative means for expression of their feelings, admiration and experiences.

"The given collection initiated by the member of "Аzizler" Organization Zarema Khayredinova, allows us to remember once again the activity and contribution to the culture development of the Crimean-Tatar people of our veteran of the national movement, the writer Idris Asanin. Today these artworks, some of which are included into the collection of Idris Asanin, allow us to plunge into Crimea at the beginning of the XX-th century and to see color and architecture of that time", the assistant to the Mufti of Muslims of Crimea, Ayder Ismailov, stated.

As present on the action artists, critics, literary critics noted, the exhibition of artworks transfers the spectators to charming and picturesque Crimea of the beginning of the XX-th century, returning memory of the native past, disclosing the features of the Crimean-Tatar original culture, which was especially claimed in the conditions of deportation.

The exhibition is opened for visitors from February, 4th, to March, 10th, 2012, from 9.30am to 5pm daily, except Sunday.

At present, authorities do not execute decisions of the President of Ukraine and court concerning the settlement of the issue on the construction of Cathedral Mosque in Simferopol. This is stated by the Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people, MP Mustafa Dzhemilev.

“I have recently met with Serhii Liovochkin (Chief of the Presidential Office – Ed.) and talked about the land allotment, including land for Djuma Djami (Cathedral Mosque). I told him that there is a presidential decision on the issue, which is not implemented. He told me that he had no information and thought the issue was long ago closed. He pledged to tackle the issue,” Mr. Dzhemilev said.

He emphasized that he does not know what the result of the Presidential Office’s work would be.

“There is a decision of the President of Ukraine on the issue and order of its settlement. There is one point that lies in the fact that the President does not identify in his decision and order any certain place for the Djuma Djami construction. In this regard, local authorities are now offering another place. But we shall not accept another place, except the site at Yaltynska Str. 22. We are not children to play games. To date, there are court decisions that give permission for the construction of Djuma Djami at Yaltynska Street. We only need to implement the court decision,” the leader emphasized.

It should be reminded that in 2004 the session of Simferopol City Council has adopted decision on concurrence with the Religious Administration of Muslims of Crimea (RAMC) of the disposition and size of the land plot for the construction of Cathedral Mosque at Yaltynska Str., 22.

However, later, the deputies refused to allot the land at this address. In 2008 they have agreed on the location of the mosque at the site at Luhova Str., 6, and in February this year, ACC recognized the land at Yaltynska Str. and the surrounding area as a park belt.

At the end of February, 2009 the ex-Crimean speaker, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Borys Deich urged in the open letter Aqmescit deputies and mayor to set aside political controversy and to consider the issue on the land allotment for the building of Cathedral Mosque. Local deputies promised to revert to this problem after public hearings.

The Economic Court of Crimea has recently satisfied fully the statement of claim on land allotment for the construction of Cathedral Mosque in Simferopol with the additions that were made by RAMC.

Supplements concerned the abolition of the decision of ACC which were adopted in 2008. In accordance with these decisions, the construction site of Cathedral Mosque has been proposed to move to Luhova Str. (some industrial zone in Simferopol) and to be split on site located at Yaltynska Str., 22.

The Economic court of Crimea satisfied in full the statement of claim for allocation in Akmesdzhit of the land area under building of the Cathedral mosque, taking into account additions which were brought from the side of the Spiritual Management of Muslims of Crimea. About it the news agency QHA informed the lawyer representing in court the SMMC, Hatidzhe Mamutova.

She noticed that additions concerned cancellations of the decision of the city council of Simfropol, which were accepted in 2008. According to these decisions, the site of the Cathedral mosque was offered to be transferred on Lugovaya street, 6 (Simferopol) and to break on the land area located at Yaltinskaya street, 22, "Yubileyniy" park.

"We insisted that these decisions of the city council are illegal. The court, in its turn, agreed with position of the SMMC and satisfied the claim in full", H.Mamutova stated.

As she said, the Spiritual Management was compelled to go through judicial instances as all necessary documents on the land area allocation under the Cathedral mosque building were prepared and all procedures were observed.

"However some political forces least of all wanted stability. Probably, in this issue were also present commercial interests as the given land area is on such place which can be considered as city collars", the lawyer marks.

Besides, H.Mamutova informed that if the city council will not appeal against the decision of the Economic court of Crimea and it remains in force, local authorities should conclude with the SMMC the rent contract.

"If the City Council will not carry out this requirement, in the decision there are instructions which provide, in a case of not conclusion of the contract of rent, contract coming into force in edition of the claimant", Mamutova emphasized.

As the lawyer noticed, in case of voluntary default by the respondent of the judgment, the SMMC should pass a circle of registration of the contract and bring into corresponding registers, and only after that to start building.

"It is still unknown in what way the power will behave. Earlier they did everything that this contract was not registered and hindered at each stage of the process of official registration of papers. We have no levers, except the legal. Therefore, if the city power ignores the court decision we will address further into the Office of Public Prosecutor, courts, etc. But while there is a question, whether the city council will appeal against the decision of the Economic court of Crimea or not", Mamutova summarized.

Let us remind, in 2004 session of the Simferopol City Council accepted the decision on the coordination to the Spiritual Management of Muslims of Crimea the location and the sizes of the land area for building of the Cathedral mosque at Yaltinskaya street, 22. However later the deputies refused in allocation of the land area to the specified address. In 2008 they co-coordinated the mosque location on an area along the Lugovaya street, 6, and in February of the same year the Simferopol City Council recognized the land area at Yaltinskaya street, 22, and a zone adjoining to it as forest-park.

On April, 29th, this year, the mayor of the city of Simferopol, Gennady Babenko, declared that the decision on land area allocation under building of the Cathedral mosque around the Yaltinskaya street, 22, is in the preparation stage.

SMMC Initiated Fund Raising for Finishing Mosque Building

The Spiritual Management of Muslims of Crimea declared fund raising for finishing of building of a mosque in the area "Airport – Zavodskoye" of the city of Akmesdzit (Simferopol), the part of which was built by the local Muslim community by their own efforts.

"Since ancient times mosques which role in the spiritual life of Muslims is huge, functioned in each village and settlement, and even quarters of big villages of Crimea. The majority of them were destroyed during the Soviet period. Presently the Crimean-Tatar people revive the spirituality, there were built a lot of mosques", the SMMC marks.

According to the Spiritual Management, one of such cult constructions is in the area of Zavodskoye airport. Local Muslims decided, by joining their efforts, by their own means to build a mosque. The base was put and building walls were put up, however, it became soon clear that for the end of the building the help is needed and that the Muslim community of the area could not finish the building by its own means.

In this connection was accepted the decision to address to public with request to help this good duty.

"Everyone wishing to help with finishing of building of the mosque around the Zavodskoye airport and render feasible help can to address the Spiritual Management of Muslims of Crimea", the SMMC informed.

February 19, round table ‘Public libraries to help preserve and revive the Crimean Tatar language’ dedicated to the International Mother Tongue Day was held in the reading hall of the Crimean Tatar İ. Gaspralı’s Library with the Crimean Tatar Educators Association Maarifchi.

The main topics of discussion were the problems and prospects of the current state of the Crimean Tatar language, QHA informs.

Bibliographer of the informational and bibliographic department of the I. Gaspral’s Library Zarema Islam presented textbooks and dictionaries of the Crimean Tatar language, published in the pre-war years.

Also the Alexander Goryainov and Refat Zekera’s textbook ‘Dogru yazamz’ (We spell correctly) was presented during the event. The purpose of this interesting textbook is to explain readers in plain Crimean Tatar the rules, in accordance with which you cannot make mistakes in the spelling of the Crimean Tatar language.

The textbook is for a high readership. Crimean Tatar language fundamental are written on this textbook in the original form as in Cyrillic script, so in Roman characters.
