New Crimean Tatar Website Alem-i Medeniye is Presented in Simferopil
Presentation of new Crimean Tatar website Alem-i Medeniye (World of Culture) has taken place in the Gaspralı’s Crimean Tatar Republican library today, on July 21 in Simferopil.
Alem-i Medeniye site is in three languages: Crimean Tatar, English and Russian and it ought to give coverage the cultural life of the Crimean Tatars. Furthermore, reader can find there, for instance, the first online Crimean Tatar library, Russian-Crimean Tatar and Crimean Tatar-Russian dictionaries, programme for transliteration of texts from Cyrillic into Roman alphabet and vice versa, readings for people studying Crimean Tatar, photo gallery of old Crimea.

The founder of site is 23-year-old Russian citizen, Moscow dweller Aleksandr Goryainov who has been learning Crimean Tatar purposefully for three years and speaks Crimean Tatar almost fluently. Aleksandr himself is PhD candidate in the Moscow Aeronautical Institute.
Mr. Goryainov noted many Crimean Tatar websites have appeared in Internet in last years but many of them devoted to the political and economical aspects of the Crimean Tatars’ life.
'If we open them we observe right away two peculiarities. At first, almost all websites are in Russian or Turkish. We can find, at the best, only occasional materials in Crimean Tatar on the majority of these sites. Second, the most part of materials devoted to last news, incidents, politics and economics, and the Crimean Tatar culture and language are attracted unfairly scant notice. In order to make up for a deficiency we created our site' – Mr. Goryainov stressed.

'You are able to use the Crimean Tatar-Russian and Russian-Crimean Tatar dictionaries that are the most completed ones of present dictionaries in Internet. The Crimean Tatar part of dictionary has two variants: by Latin and Cyrillic alphabets. According to founder of the site, there is a forum on this site that will be a place of communication soon for the Crimean Tatars from the former USSR and the Crimean Tatar Diasporas of Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, the USA and other countries.
Aleksandr told the love for Crimean Tatar was fostered by his grandfather who came in Crimea in the middle of 1950s last century and worked here for some time. He brought books of Crimea when he came back. These books were inherited to grandson Aleksandr. 'I got to know about wonderful nature of Crimea with help of these books. I was interested by toponyms and I tried to find their translations. Thus, I had the overwhelming desire to learn this beautiful language' – he shared.
