Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, taught his followers that cleanliness is half of faith, so Muslims always eagerly participate in different municipal improvement benefits and cleanups at recreational places and cemeteries. Furthermore, Muslims are permanent participants of “Let’s Make Ukraine Clean!” benefit. Last Saturday, young Muslims also joined the all-Ukrainian flashmob in Kyiv, Vinnytsia and Kharkiv and cleaned the areas specified by the organisators.
Over dozen volunteers in both Kyiv and Vinnytsia, and about 20 volunteers in Kharkiv rolled up their sleeves, put on the safety gloves, and dedicated several hours of their free time to working with zeal, which resulted in absolute purity of the areas they were responsible of.
The flashmob is aimed to not only do cleanups as such, but rather to drawing public attention to ecological problems and our careless attitude towards the environment. For the environment is an amahan entrusted to us by Allah Almighty, and we will be held responsible for our environmental behaviour on the Day of Judgement.
