The Crimean Tatar masters will take part in the Indo-Oman Folk Art Festival to be held in Oman on February 3-25.

QHA has learnt this from the Crimean Tatar ceramist, painter, designer and member of the National Union of Folk Masters of Ukraine, Mamut Churlu.

It is expected that the festival will bring together 90 masters from 30 countries. Ukraine will be represented by the members of the creative association ‘Chatır-Dag’, including a talented ceramist and artist Rustem Skibin, a master of ‘tatar ıshleme’ (Crimean Tatar double-sided embroidery) Elvira Osmanova and gold embroidery master Hatidje Yunusova.

‘Three of our masters from the creative association ‘Chatır-Dag’ have passed a competition. They have received visas and tickets through an e-mail. Organizers pay for travel and accommodation. In addition, during the twenty days they will be free to market their products and to produce these products.

This once again proves that the world’s interest in folk art is very high,’ Mamut Churlu said. He noted that the participants of the festival can take part in the contest for the best work and compete for the Grand Prize of 100 thousand dollars.
