Situation the Inhabitants of flooded districts in Odessa region are in, still remains difficult. A lot of people found themselves in need of any help. Odessa Muslims couldn’t stay aside and extended their helping hands for their neighbours suffering from the flood.

As reported by the AUASO “Alraid” official webcite, the “Al-Masar” representatives Social Organisation handed humanitarian aid over to Artsyz District State Administration (Odessa Region) on October 2, 2013, so that they spread it among the victims of the flood.


More than 100 large packs of warm clothes (male, female, childrens), outer garments and cold weather footwear were collected within 2 weeks. The believers also purchased and donated long-life food supplies, such as grits and pasta.


It bears reminding that more than 499 single-family detached homes were flooded in Berezino, Veseliy Kut, Pobeda, Krasnoe and Tarutino. 91 houses demolished with another 85 at risk.


Prolonged showers in September gave more than 300 mm rainfall. As a result, Anchorak and Kogil’nik, the intermittent rivers, ran high. There were multiple breaks on the railway between Artsyz and Berezino, road traffic between Serpnevoe, Artsyz and Tatarbunary stopped, water and electricity supplies cut, 100 gas pipeline damaged.


Hundreds of single-family detached homes flooded in Berezino, Veseliy Kut, Pobeda, Krasnoe and Tarutino. The rescue workers had to evacuate about 1000 people from the flooded houses and bring them to places of temporary accommodation at the rural councils and community centres.


Many families lost their domestic animals and poultry in the flood, along with procurements.
