The Viennese ethnographic museum returned to the Bakhchsarai Khan palace-museum a number of subjects of a cultural heritage of the Crimean Tatars who were taken out in years of Nazi occupation of Crimea. On it informed the press-service of the Mejlis of the Crimean-Tatar people.

Solemn ceremony of transfer of the exhibits took place on December, 21st, in Bakhchisarai. In total from Austria to Crimea returned 26 museum subjects - products of the Crimean-Tatar arts and crafts, mainly, samples of the Crimean-Tatar embroideries, weaving, and also some works of the Crimean-Tatar jewelers. All these valuables during the post-war time appeared in the Viennese ethnographic museum (Austria) under which initiative in 2008 rose the question on returning of the exhibits on their historical native land. In the negotiation took part diplomatic representatives of Ukraine and Austria, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Commission on the questions concerning returning to Ukraine of cultural values at the Cabinet of Ministers, the Bakhchsarai historical and cultural reserve and the Viennese ethnographic museum.

Also in the press-service they noticed that the transfer by the Austrian museum of exhibits became the first case of returning to Crimea of subjects of the Crimean-Tatar cultural heritage, stolen in the days of Nazi occupation of Crimea.

In museum collections outside of Crimea until now there is a considerable number of such subjects moved or transferred by the Soviet management from the museum meeting of Bakhchisarai in 1950-1980th. The Bakhchsarai reserve throughout already several years conducts work on their returning: from the Lvov museum of history of religion to Crimea returned hand-written and old printing books, is compound the catalogue of the Crimean-Tatar books and the manuscripts stored in the Russian national library of Petersburg.
