According to the research carried out by the Institute of social researches in 80 countries of the world, 46% of Americans visit a temple (a synagogue, a mosque, a church, etc.) every Sunday - the same do only 14% of the British, 8% of the French, 7% of Swedes, 4% of the Japanese and 2% of Russians. 58% of Americans constantly think about the sense of life, in Germany there are only 31%, in Great Britain - 26%, in Japan - 25%.

However, the majority of inhabitants of the world consider religion to be private affair of a man; therefore religious institutes should be separated from the state. For instance, in this way think 55% of population of Russia, Uzbekistan and the USA, 63% of populations of Ukraine, 65% of Poles and Hindus, 67% of Italians and the Japanese, 68% of Germans, 70% of the Englishmen, 72% of Slovaks, 73% of the Frenchmen, 75% of Czech and 84% of inhabitants of the Ivory Coast. The least interested in separation of religion from the state are the dwellers of Jordan (only 24 % support secession), Bolivia (30 %), Pakistan (33 %) and Angola (34 %).

The commission of the USA Congress on religious freedom in the world attributed to the countries where religious rights are violated the most Burma, China, Eritrea, India, Iran, Northern Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkmenistan and Vietnam. The human rights championing organization Freedom House in its "black list" together with these states, mentions also Byelorussia, Afghanistan, Israel and the Palestinian Territories, Egypt, France, Iraq, Lebanon, Nigeria, Russia, Serbia and Uzbekistan.
