On December, 21, the General Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the ARC transferred to the Mejlis the copies of declassified materials from the history of the Crimean Tatar people.

As Ukrinform was informed by the press service of the Mejlis, the volume with more than 600 bound copies of the "reports of meetings of the Crimean parliament – the Kurultay - from December 8, 1917" was handed to the Deputy of Ukraine, the chairman of the Mejlis, Mustafa Dzhemilev by the head of the SU SSBU of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Vladimir Pshenichniy.

Submitting the documents, he stressed that all copies correspond to the pages of original protocols.

The documents will be published in a special collection with the translation of the texts into Latin script, which will allow them to be studied by the foreign researchers.

"The world will see over one thousand pages of reports of meetings of the members of the Kurultay, executed by the Soviet government", M. Dzhemilev noted.

"Undoubtedly, these materials are an important contribution to the historiography of the Crimean Tatars", he added.

"For many years these documents were kept in the secret from the public, but nowadays, thanks to the democratic values that operate in Ukraine, it will serve as an invaluable source for knowledge of our recent tragic history", the press service of the Mejlis stated.

According to Vladimir Pshenichniy, it is not the first act of transferring to the public of previously secret documents from the history of the Crimean Tatar people. On May, 18, 2009, as a part of activities commemorating the victims of deportations in the Crimea, by the chairman of the SSU, Valentin Nalyvaychenko, to the Mejlis were handed copies of documents showing the mass repressions against the Crimean Tatar intelligentsia, in particular members of the party "Milli Firka" carried out in the 20th - 30th of the twentieth century.
