Crimean Moslems Should Participate in Elections, Chubarov Says
The Crimean Moslems should participate in elections of the President of Ukraine on January 17 of 2010. Such opinion was expressed by the 1st Deputy Chairman of the Majlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov during yesterday’s evening air of the Crimean TV Company “ATR”.
Answering to one of televiewers who told adherents of such Islamic doctrine as “Salafi” or the Hizb-ut-Tahrir Party have called on do not participate in elections because such activities contravene the sharia, Refat Chubarov said those people who today call on the Crimean Tatars do not vote, tomorrow come to the Majlis for help and protection when they get into difficulties. They request the Majlis to be a mediator between them and the authorities, he told.
Also Mr. R. Chubarov noted millions of the Moslems who are living in non-Moslem countries, in Europe or America do not refuse participation in public life of their countries; they use opportunity to defend their rights.
Sinaver Qadır, who took part in this broadcasting also, stressed emotionally “Alhamdullilah, we are all the Moslems. Our parents brought up our Moslem feelings from little up. We shall not cease to be the Moslems if we shall participate in elections”.
It should be reminded, that The Mufti of the Spiritual Management of Muslims of Ukraine "Ummah" Said Ismagilov says that Islam obliges a Muslim to be legislative citizen of the country, to take active part in all elective processes and to serve for the good of the people and the state.
He explained that a Muslim should get familiar with the programs of the candidates, for example on presidential elections, with the programs of parties on parliamentary elections, and to choose that political power which will as much as possible assist tolerance formation in the society, formation of those principles and rules, which Muslims can use for the good of their development and the whole Muslim society in the country of their residing.
Let us remind that the SMMU "Ummah" and the All-Ukraine Association of Social Organizations "Аlraid" addressed to all Ukrainian Muslims with an appeal to take active part in the presidential elections on January 17.
