During his performance on January, 27th at the session of the Advisory council of parties and public organizations the mayor of Nikolaev Vladimir Chayka declared that in a city there should be a mosque for Muslims.

"For eight years I conduct such a policy with the deputy body, and with the state, that in Nikolaev there should be a mosque. Here live more than 50 thousand believing Muslims. And the calmness in communities is a calmness in a city", Chayka emphasized.

The mayor of Nikolaev is sure that the projects of national minorities will be supported from the budget.

In his turn the head of Council of National Communities of the area Kaymarazov Sultan-Murad Dzhamalutdinovich suggested the mayor to create in city schools information-analytical centers of state minorities. Chayka promised to support the initiative.

As it was informed earlier, for more than 15 years the Nikolaev Muslims cannot get from officials the permission to restore a mosque which was constructed around Petrovsky Park in 1870, but destroyed by the Soviet power. And the territory, for which the followers of Islam apply, actually is not used. But for not clear reasons officials for 15 years on authorize for building, and then cancel their decision.
