The new patriarch of Serbia Iriney apologized before Muslims for his words that the followers of Islam, having appeared in the majority, start to press on associates.

The scandal burst because of the interview of the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which was published in the newspaper "Blitz" on January, 27th. In it the patriarch, addressing to the Serbs living to Kosovo and Metohiya, said the following, "We approximately know what philosophy and psychology of Islam is. They, when are in minority, behave themselves correctly. When they become equal on number, they lift their heads. And when they start to surpass, they put pressure that the others either moved, or joined them. It is Islamic philosophy".

After the reaction of Muslims the patriarch apologized before them and said, "My words can be interpreted in that way as Muslim believers and religious leaders understood them, though I did not have such intention, and this unfortunate statement does not express my true opinion about Islam".

From his part the head of Islamic association of Serbia Muamer Zukorlich stated that "apologies in any case are comprehensible step which, though they are not in condition to eliminate consequences of the sounded statement, can reduce them", informs "Islam.ru". As he said, "for normalization of the situation crucial importance will have the subsequent actions of the Serbian orthodox church in relation to Islamic association".
