Katrin Kym is the first Ukrainian Muslim Fashion brand presenting modern clothes that help their clients in creating their unique looks. The brand, which combines traditional oriental patterns and the rhythm of modern city life, belongs to Yekaterina Yevdokimova, a designer and author. Her collection “Hayat” was highly appreciated at Kyiv Fashion Festival for Young Designers, with Andre Tan’s Style & Design Academy among organisers and the jury.
The designer told “Islam in Ukraine” correspondent that despite the success was highly desired, it was a real surprise for her:
— It was or dream, of course, that the show was a success, but we never expected the victory to be so convincing, for we won the first prize by a significant margin. It was a pleasant surprise for us to hear the results announced, for we were anxious how a Muslim collection would be received in prevailing non-Muslim society in Kyiv.
Getting such a high mark from Andre Tan is worth much, as he is a celebrated Ukrainian fashion designer who invented Smart Couture style focused on metropolis inhabitants. His signature line clothes include exclusive collective handmade masterpieces the designer presents on the world’s best catwalks.
The audience also gave high ratings to Katrin Kym, and some of them even bought several pieces from “Hayat” collection. The designer says those customers were lucky, for they got their clothes at a very considerable discount.
— I was so shocked by the fact we won that I mistakenly named diffusion line prices instead of signature line prices, — Yekaterina laughs.
The designer told that she also received an invitation to present her works on Italian Fashion Week in Rome.
