Public bodies of Yedı-Quyu (Lenino) raion sabotage to settle the issue of the Aq-Tash Muslim cemetery, which is the historical heritage of the Crimean Tatar people. QHA is reported about it by the imam of the Crimean Republican NGO Avdet, the informal leader of the ‘protest fields’ of the Crimean Tatars Daniyal Ahmet.
"The authorities settling the problem of the Aq-Tash cemetery must be guided by the laws of Ukraine ‘Of Cultural Heritage Protection’, ‘Of the Archaeological Heritage Protection’ and ‘Of the Funeral and Undertaking’ but they ignore them and sabotage this issue" – Mr. Ahmet stressed.
According to him, there is no real work in practice on conduct some research works, in spite of the creation of the special commission on this issue settling.
It is not a secret that the Muslim cemetery was at that place before where the land is allocated to build cottages. "Therefore, the authorities had to inform the correspond bodies and to conduct researches in accordance with the law" - Avdet movement’s imam said.
Mr. Ahmet noticed that the cultural and historical heritage of Crimea is an integral part of the cultural heritage of Ukraine and the Ukrainian heritage is a part of the heritage of Europe. "We watch now, the local authorities of Yedı-Quyu violate the Ukrainian legislation and international standards" - he said.
Imam is sure that this territory is a historical value because ‘there are occupation layers and funeral prayer place was at the cemetery. It says about the antiquity of our cemetery and the origin of our people. Our people did not come in XIII-XIV centuries to Crimea but they have lived here for centuries.
In this regard, residents of the neighbourhood villages plan to fence in the territory of the Aq-Tash Muslim cemetery, the area of which is about 4 hectares and to restore the mosque there.
The Crimean Republican NGO Avdet Head Mustafa Maush told that they sought help to settle this problem from the leadership of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people. "However, there is no answer so far" – Mr. Maush stressed and added that he plans to visit the Majlis after the New Year’s holidays.
NGO Avdet representatives told that if the authorities will not take certain measures on the Aq-Tash cemetery issue, then various actions drawing of the public’s attention, including the international community’s attention will be carried out.
Also, Avdet plans to hold a meeting of fellow villagers, people from Aq-Tash, Kiten (Semenivka), Qazantip (Mysove) and other nearby settlements, 16 May 2010.
Organizers invite all who are connected somehow to these lands. Also they invited to the meeting representatives of the Crimean Tatar Diasporas of Turkey, Romania, the USA and other countries.
As QHA reported earlier, Yedı-Quyu raion state administration started to allocate land to the Kyiv and Moscow ‘moneybags’ under the cottage construction on the land where Muslim cemetery and a mosque, which demolished in 70th of last century and its bricks were used as building materials in the construction of barracks and fences in Azovske village, three years ago.
