A five-day international youth conference dedicated to the dialogue between Muslims and Jews opened in Kyiv on Wednesday.
As the press service of the Institute of Human Rights and Prevention of Extremism and Xenophobia (IHRPEX) reported, this is the second such conference conducted at the initiative of the IHRPEX and the Ukrainian Jewish Committee.
IHRPEX Head, Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman, said that the inter-confessional dialogue was vital and very important, especially when young people are trying to reach such compromises.
"Unlike anti-Semitism that has a long history in Ukraine, Islamophobia, which we are facing more often, is a relatively new phenomenon for us. And while the names of these two phenomena, as well as their origin and history, are different, they have one thing in common - hatred. This hatred must be overcome today so that tomorrow it does not make us take up arms," Feldman said.
