Ukraine welcomes achievements of the Egyptian people on the way to freedom and democracy with hope that positive results of revolution of January, 25th, would become a strong basis for the development of free Egypt, its democracy and prosperity.
This statement was published yesterday by the Embassy of Ukraine in Cairo on the occasion of celebrating of the twentieth anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in January, 25th, informs Ukrpress.net.
In the statement it is said that for the last two decades between Egypt and Ukraine fruitful cooperation was conducted, and that Egypt, in its turn, is the important political and economic partner for Ukraine, being one of the leading countries of the Arab world and Africa.
Also it was declared about existence of regular political consultations between Ukraine and Egypt that reflects interest of both countries in the issues of mutual cooperation; it is noted about the visits of ministerial delegations of Ukraine to Egypt on a regular basis and sessions of joint committee on the Egyptian-Ukrainian economic, scientific and technical cooperation on which consultations of the Ministries for Foreign Affairs of both countries were also conducted.
In the statement it is also stated about cooperation between Ukraine and Egypt within the limits of the United Nations Organization on wide range of issues; it is emphasized that there are no essential clashes of opinions of both countries on the international and regional issues which are available now on the agenda, and, on the contrary, both countries aspire to come to their decision peacefully.
It was noticed that relations between two countries led to the development of dynamics of mutual trade and economic cooperation, the trade total amount between both countries made 1.472 billion US dollars; at the same time, Egypt took the tenth place among the largest consumers of the Ukrainian export in 2008.
The share of consumption of Egypt from the general Ukrainian export made 2, 59 % in 2010, and 1, 86 % for 11 months of 2011, that made it occupy the twelfth place.
In the statement it was also noticed that Ukraine and Egypt strengthened cooperation in the field of oil and gas within the last years.
At the same time there is a huge potential for increase of cooperation in the field of new and high technologies, especially space and aircraft, and also in the field of military-technical cooperation between the two countries.
