Crimean Tatars decided to take holdfast of the future in Autonomous Republic of Crimea. on a meeting, They aired their unanimous protest to Russian separatism on a meeting held on December 23 in honour of extrajudicial execution of Noman Chelebijihan (prominent Crimean Tatar public figure of early XX). The Head of Crimean Tatar Mejlis gave a 10-day term to the local authorities so they would establish close connection with local offices of Crimean Tatar Mejlis.

Besides, Mr. Chubarov expressed the opinion of Crimean Tatars on the former ruling party, saying that there’s no place in Crimea in part and Ukraine in general for the ideas the latter fostered.

Crimean Tatars expected Mr. Anatoliy Mohilyov, the Head of Crimean Council of Ministers, to resign, but got odd explanations and veiled threats that the Crimean Tatars fully depend on the situation on the peninsula instead.

Head of Milli Mejlis Mr.Refat Chubarov stated during a press-conference on February 24: “15.000 people, who came yesterday, and dozens of thousands of those who couldn’t come aren’t satisfies with the work of that (i.e. Party of Regions) team. Many people spoke about it yesterday in detail. They mentioned dividing people, playing them against one another, the party's dictatorship, rightlessness of the state servicemen and harassing them. And after all that the Head of Crimean Council of Ministers assures us that he keeps on working and fighting for our own good”.

At the very same day two meetings were held at the building of Crimean Parliament, with Crimean Tatars and Maidan supporters on the one side and pro-Russian Crimeans on the other. Several skirmishes occurred here and there, with about 10.000 fighters of both parties.

Mr.Chubarov took hold of the meeting as a real leader; he asked his supporters to step acide so that the police troops could come and separate the parties, and so they did. The meeting ended peacefully, and the parties left the square chanting slogans like “Crimea belongs to Ukraine” and “Hit the road, Gang!”
