"Does Islam appreciate women?" This was the topic of the opened annual spring female conference which gathered on March, 21st, about 500 women in the Islamic Cultural Centre. This time the action, traditionally organized by "Alraid", passed under the title "Muslim Woman on the Threshold of the Third Millennium".

Upon entering into the new millennium, the Muslim woman actively masters computer technologies, is engaged in political, journalistic activity, heals and trains. Nevertheless, if to interview, in what religion the woman has the least rights, undoubtedly, the majority of people will, though strangely enough, name Islam. Position of a woman and her rights is a traditional point of criticism of social arrangement of a Muslim society and Islam.

Surprisingly, but, perhaps, most of all opponents of Islam are touched by the appearance of Muslim women: the scarf on a head, at all times personifying cleanliness and purity, by the efforts of mass-media today became an oppression symbol. Aspiration to knowledge is a duty of every Muslim, be it a man or a woman.
