Not just poor retired people are extremely vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic. This list also includes poor large families and families who lost their father. Such families became the next target group for the Muslim volunteers of Women’s Organisation “Safiya”, so the next set of grocery packs was delivered to the homes of Islamic Centre “Vira” parishioners who fell under that criteria.

Besides the basic groceries (in quantities that have to last for several weeks), they also bought treats for the youngest family members, including sweets and fruit.

Of course, the volunteers who bought, packed and delivered the groceries never failed to use means of personal protection such as masks, gloves and sanitizers.

They are planning to extend the charity, so the organizers call upon everyone willing to join the good cause and either donate some money or volunteer. Volunteers from “Safiya” remind that care for kids, especially orphans, is a duty of the Umma as a whole, especially in terms of pandemic and quarantine, when they get more vulnerable.
