European Council for Fatwa and Research regularly holds ordinary sessions in order to discuss contemporary topical issues and challenges faced by the Islamic World. They work on the unanimous renderings and draw theological conclusions. Thus, in 2012 the First International  theological conference ‘Islamic doctrine against radicalism’ took place, with European Council for Fatwa and Research involved. The participants elaborated the unanimous theological conclusion, as planned. In that joint declaration, defining unanimous explanations of such terms as Jihad (zeal in something), takfir (accusation of disbelief and disaffiliation with Islam), and Khalifat (a historical concept of an Islamic state) that are most commonly received as radical. Both the organisers and the participants stressed that it was the misunderstanding of those terms that led to radicalisation of Muslims around the globe, corrupting the true image of Islam and raising Islamophobia. The fatwa also explained that violence towards both Muslims and people of other religions and ideologies was a forbidden thing to do.
