Construction of the Cathedral Mosque in Simferopol can now be driven from the deadlock only by the good will of the Russian Government.

As the Deputy Mufti of Crimea Mr.Esadullah Bairov told in his interview for the QHA, the matter of erecting the mosque is rather politically charged, and for that reason the construction works haven’t been started for 10 years by now, despite all inspections and arrangements were passed successfully.

- This matter is to be solved on the top level now, as all protractions are because of the political charge. As for the rest, we’ve passed all the inspections and arrangements several times already, all the projects are completed. What we need now is the good will of the Government who can say that they do want a Mosque on the Yaltinskaya Str. “While we don’t have such “good will”, the matter can be postponed for decades, as we’ve already seen this. There were governors wit a firm hand, such as late Mr.Vasil Jarty, who drove the deadlock, - but the God took him away, and everything stopped again,” - Mr. Bairov said. - “If the Government orders to solve this matter, I think everything will be done very fast. It’s up to the President now, I suppose, to give such an order, as local authorities are unable to solve such an important matter.”

He also stressed that Turkey didn’t the Turks didn’t renounce their obligations for building the Cathedral mosque in Crimea. According to this, the Deputy Mufti stressed they don’t need sponsorship from any other republics. It bears reminding that Tatarstan and Chechen republic volunteered to finance the building.

Deputy Mufti, however, thanked the representatives of Tatarstan and Chechnya for their help proposals and noted that there are lots of other religious buildings needing financial assistance in Crimea.

It bears reminding that the positive decision on building the Cathedral Mosque was carried out with the direct support of late Mr.Vasil Jarty in 2011, and the local authorities determined 22 Yaltinskaya Str. as the place for the future mosque. Religious administration of Muslims of Crimea didn’t waste time and prepared all the necessary documents, and the Turkish specialists worked on the project of the future Cathedral Mosque. The construction works, however, haven’t been started yet.
