Recite in the name of your Lord who created -
Created man from a clinging substance.
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -
Who taught by the pen -
Taught man that which he knew not. Qur’an (96:1-5)

A new madrasah for boys at the first floor of the local mosque was opened in the Sovetskoe settlement recently. Today there are three students aged 12-14. At the same time, these young men are the pupils of the local public school with Crimean tatar language of Tutoring.

The tutoring process takes place in a large well-lit classroom, guided by the Belogorsk Madrasah graduate Nariman Islam. Mr. Islam considers the structure of the lesson and the information delivery very important. He finds making the lessons interesting necessary, as the subjects themselves aren’t easy at all to make their learning even harder by a boring tutoring.

Everything is done in order to fulfill the requirements of modern education. The students are taught Qur’an, tajweed, Arabic, stories of the prophets, Prophet Muhammad’s (peace and blessings be upon him) biography, fiqh, akhlaq (morals), history of Islam and many other subjects. The classes are held on workdays upon the student’s return from the state school.

It’s inspiring that young Crimean Muslims work on overcoming their own religious ignorance year by year. Many Crimean tatars completed their madrasah course and received the primary theological education. Now they bring their children to the madrasas they used to attend themselves. This gives hope that the new generation of Crimean Muslims will be more educated in their religion, and the Sovetskoe Mosque Madrasah will make its input in that process.

Boys can be accepted to the madrasah after they’ve completed either 5th, 6th or 7th year of the public school. They live in a cosy room at the first floor of the mosque built with the assistance of AUASO “Alraid” in 2000 and have three meals a day.

Students enjoy studying here.

“I like learning Arabic and reading the Qur’an. My friends and I attent the lessons eagerly in order to learn something new about Islam,” - Selim K. from Nizhegorodsk district says.

Nariman-Oja thinks that fostering many-sided personalities is the main task of a teacher, along to giving knowledge, as the person didn’t get into the sense of Islam if they read the Qur’an and continue living with low morals. Examples from the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) life are mentioned when discussing some topic or other, as he was a wonderful example for every Muslim to follow.

“Of course I would like to have more students at our school.” - Nariman-Oja says. He also mentions that he’s wery thaknful to the local people who support the Madrasah. He says that parents support such projects as they understand they’re necessary for many Muslims, and that their children are safe and taught good here. Besides, they learn their religion, which is useful. The morals of the modern society are extremely low, and the kids are the most vulnerable to its influence.

I want to believe that pupils from the surrounding villages will also study here in the nearest future, and this helps improve their knowledge of religion and their morals.
