Crimean Tatar Mejlis Press-Service announced at the official website, that the information stating that Crimean Tatars living on the peninsula allegedly volunteer to the National Guard of Ukraine is incorrect. Mejlis asked all the Media to check their sources of information before publishing anything.

Due to the fact that Mass Media distributed information stating that Crimean Tatars volunteer to the National Guard of Ukraine, the Mejlis Press-Service announced the following:

1. Information stating that Crimean Tatars volunteer to the National Guard of Ukraine is incorrect.

2. Mejlis neither carried out such decisions nor recommended the Crimean Tatars to volunteer to any military troops.

3. Mejlis approved the initiative by local communities on organizing joint night patrols and duties carried out by the local inhabitants in order to maintain public order and safety, protecting lives and property at the places of their settlement. This initiative has nothing to do with any “levy”.

Taking into account that any of such materials can become a destabilization agent in Crimean crisis and lead to open confrontation, we call upon every Mass Media to check any information relying on different sources.

Crimean Tatar Mejlis, on their part, is open for the Media to discuss gatherings of a social value and maintain dialogue.
