A town’s meeting “For Ukraine’s Unity!” was held at the Independance Square in Kyiv on March 23. Mr. Andriy Parubiy (Head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine), Mr. Valentin Nalivaichenko (Head of Security Service of Ukraine), Mr. Eugene Nyshchuk (Minister of Culture of Ukraine) and some others held their speeches from the Maidan stage. Situation in Crimea was one of the main topics for discussion. A lot of support and gratitude was shown towards the Crimean Tatars who are the last outpost of Ukrainian Statehood in the peninsula. Mr. Islyam Himadutin, Head of RAMU “Umma”, was among the speakers.
He spoke about the session of Donbass Council of Churches and Religious Organisations and quoted the Appeal to the Nation of Ukraine adopted by the council.
“We appeal to all the Nation of Ukraine and ask to hear our voices from the East of the country. We all are different, but we are one nation! We have different world outlooks and religious views, we have different cultural preferences and ethnic patterns, we speak different languages … But all of us aim for peace and security, prosperity and freedom in our unani, uos Ukraine. We have one common Homeland, which is the land of Ukraine,” - the Appeal reads.
Mr. Himadutin stressed that Ukrainian Muslims bewail those who sacrificed their lives for Ukraine’s better future. “According to Islam, they committed jihad, as Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said that A word of truth spoken to the face of a tyrant is the best jihad,” - he added.
The audience broke into applause for many times while he spoke, scanding “Thank you!”
