On Wednesday, August, 12, about two hundreds representatives of the Turkic Youth of the World of different creeds carried out in the centre of Simferopol a march on support of the Crimean Tatars. The action then moved to the city suburbs where Muslims want to erect the Cathedral Juma-Jami mosque. These actions took place within the limits of the XIV World Kurultay of the Turkic Youth which passes in Crimea, informs Radio Freedom.

On Wednesday after a dinner, the delegates of Kurultay met in premises of the Crimean-Tatar theatre leader of Medzhlis of the Crimean-Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev who in details told them about the problems which face the Crimean Tatars. And already after that they, dressed in national clothes, passed the central streets of Simferopol to a city main square where there is situated the building of the Ministerial Council of the ARC.

Though under its walls there was no meeting, and there were no any speeches said, nevertheless, the participants of the march told to journalists that thus they have expressed support to the Crimean-Tatar people which after deportation come back to their historical Motherland and strive for restoration of lost political-legal, social-economic and cultural-religious rights.

Then the participants of Kurultay moved to suburbs of Simferopol where is planned the building of the Cathedral Juma-Jami mosque. There passed a small Namaz which was carried out the by Muslim delegates and representatives of the Spiritual Management of Muslims of Crimea. And one of the leaders of Mejlis, the head of the World Congress of the Crimean Tatars, Refat Chubarov, told about the history of struggle of his compatriots for the revival in Crimea of Islam, for restoration of mosques and other cult constructions of the Crimean Muslims on the peninsula.

In the same place under the sounds of the Ukrainian and the Crimean-Tatar national anthems, the participants of the action lifted on high flagstaffs the national flag of Ukraine, the Crimean-Tatar national flag and the standard of the International Association of the Turkic Youth.

The Turkic Youth is for Tolerance

On the Kurultay of the Turkic Youth of the World gathered representatives of 40 Turkic regions and countries who profess not only Islam, but also Orthodoxy, Buddhism, Karaimism and Judaism, there were even pagans-shamanists from Siberia. And still all together they arrived on the place of building of the Simferopol Cathedral mosque.

The deputy of the Mejlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan, the leader of the International Association of the Turkic Youth, Akram Abdullaev, told in the interview to the Radio Freedom that the participants of the Kurultay thus wished to express their solidarity with the Crimean Tatars-Muslims, "In the Turkic world the tolerance question is very important. And especially in religious questions. And today among the Turks there are Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and their representatives all together support here the Crimean Tatars. All of us hope, as the Ukrainian state will show tolerance to its citizens and will support them in their wish to build here the mosque", the deputy of the Azerbaijanian Parliament Akram Abdulaev said.

The Crimean Tatars already for 15 years try to get from local authorities license for the building of the Cathedral (main) mosque in Simferopol. After long oppositions and negotiations it was possible to find the conciliatory proposal and in 2004 the City Council allowed to allocate the land on the Yalta line in suburbs of Simferopol. But in 2006 the new structure of the City Council cancelled this decision and forbidden any building on this place. Since then the Crimean Tatars carry out protest actions by which they try to pay attention of the central power, the Ukrainian and international public to the prejudiced attitude to the Muslim minority in Crimea.
