There is a big social order to the conflict and delimitation of the ethnic groups in Crimea, QHA is told by the known Kyiv political analyst, Director of the Centre for Middle East Studies Ihor Semyvolos.
According to him, the evidence of this is the growth of a number of provocative articles in the Ukrainian mass media concerning the Crimean Tatars.
"There is a struggle for the ethnic identity. It should be noted in this context that the articles are directed to mobilize some part of the population, which is got ready negatively against the Crimean Tatars" – Semyvolos says.
The political analyst considers that the articles are concentrated to form the fear and anxiety of these people. "They are aimed to form the image of the enemy and to unite of its group and prevent the breaking of its identity. The activity of publishing such articles, most likely is because of the elections, which held in Ukraine. Many processes are worsened during the elections" - the expert said.
‘Turkish threat’
Moreover, the political scientist noted that the ‘Turkish threat’ is used for joining.
‘Turkish threat’ is a traditional bogeyman story, which was told as during the Soviet times, so the Russian Empire. It is important for them to play the Crimean Tatar factor in a certain geopolitical perspective. They seek to present the Crimean Tatars as a kind of terrible mythical force, which is connected to the mythic Ottoman Empire but not as neighbours, opinion of whose should be taken into account and the problems should be settled" – Semyvolos said.
Director of the Centre for Middle East Studies is convinced that Turkey authorities absolutely do not think about such things. "There are no aspirations of Turkey concerning Crimea. This is not a subject of discussion in the Turkish Republic. Meanwhile, it is still mental threat of the Russian nationalist propaganda and the Crimean Tatars, they consider it as a part of this threat"- Ihor Semyvolos calms pro-Russian activists.
