A memory walk dedicated to Ukrainian Unity Day was held near the Taras Shevchenko memorial today.
Head of Kharkiv Region State Administration Mr.Igor Baluta, Head of Kharkiv Region Council Mr.Sergiy Chernov, other officials, religious figures and representatives of docial organisations, officers of Security Service, Ministry of Interior and Border Service laid flowers to Taras Shevchenko memorial. Mr.Gennadi Zubko, Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine, also took part in the ceremony.
Kharkiv Muslims were represented by the local Islamic Cultural centre’s Imam, Mr.Yevhen Glushchenko.
After the official ceremonies were over, about 200 activists gathered at the memorial in order to honor the memory of those who died during the events on Maidan and the military action in Donbass, including those who fell in action at the Donetsk Airport today, and Donetsk peasants once again shelled by the terrorists.
“On this very day a humanitarian aid, collected all over the country, will leave Kharkiv and Head to the South-East, and this is another proof of the Unity we all celebrate today. Ukraine is a one large family and independent European State,” — Mr.Zubko stressed.
