Established without allowing documents and coordination with local population cross near the Crimean settlement Burlk (Vilino) on Monday, April, 12th, was dismantled and transferred on the territory of a local Orthodox temple.
“Thanks to negotiations in which participated authorities, the regional Mejlis, the Muslim and Orthodox clergy, it became possible to transfer the cross on the territory of a Vilino church”, QHA was informed in Bakhchsarai regional Mejlis.
Thus, according to the Crimean news agency, carrying over of a five-meter construction passed without public order infringement.
As it was informed earlier, some Vilino pro-Russian youth organization “Local initiatives of development” in the night from 1st to 2nd of April of the current year established a cross on the road between the settlements of Burluk (Vilino) and Alma-Tamak (Peschanoye).
The cross erection caused indignation among the Muslim population. After conversation of Muslims with the local authorities it was possible to agree to transfer the cross into Vilino church.
Then, at the desire of the Orthodox clergy carrying over of the cross was appointed to Monday, April, 12th.
The Crimean mass-media considered a situation with the autocratic erection of an Orthodox symbol as a threat of interethnic stability on the peninsula.
