A colloquium took place at the French National institute of foreign languages and civilizations. Its main topic entitled, `The fate of the Crimean peninsula`. Mari-Sibil de Vien, the head of the Commission of International relations of the Institute and Philip de Surmen, former ambassador of France in Ukraine initiated the meeting of participants with opening speeches.

In the first session of the colloquium the reports of the co-worker of the institute Yaroslav Lebedinski in relation to the ethnic history of Crimea and PhD student Maksim Deshane “Crimean Tatars of XVII century in the book of Pier Shevalie “History of kozak’s wars against of Poland” were introduced.


The famous Crimean historian Gulnara Bekirova in her speech told of the fundamental moments of the deportation of the сrimean-tatar nation, additionally responding to many questions from the audience.


The second part of colloquium was dedicated to discussion of the current situation in Crimea. The following co-workers and experts gave speeches with together with their reports: the expert Julia Tischenko (“Crimea, Russia and euro-maydan (revolution in Ukraine): the reasons of Crimean separatism”), co-worker of the Fund of strategic researches Isabel Falkon (“Annex of Crimea: what would be the strategic interests of Russia?"), co-worker of the French institute of geopolitics Jan-Sylvester Mongrenie (“The west and Crimea: the danger of politics “business as usual”).


The head of Mejlis of the crimean-tatar people Refat Chubarov mentioned about the current situation in Crimea and the realities of the living of Crimean Tatars. He also answered numerous questions to the audience.


The meeting was closed by a viewing and discussion of the film “Haytarma”. The film didn’t leave the French public vague of the сrimean-tatar people’s doom and it drew numerous comments and questions from the side of viewers.
