Placement of assembly mosque in the Crimean capital became the cause of new round of confrontation between the deputies of the city council on one hand and Majlis and Muftiyat of Muslims of the peninsula on the other hand. However, after long rotting the city council agreed to assign the land for the future spiritual center of Muslims but not at the place promised beforehand, but at totally different place.
We shall remind that the choice of the place for the future assembly mosque lasts for one and a half tens of years and soon can celebrate its first sad anniversary. After long discussions in June 2004 the city council of Simferopol gave its agreement to co-ordination of land for the future mosque, accepting the territory of the size 2,7 ha at address Yaltinskaya street, 22. But some more years were needed to get the visas of numerous authorizing departments. By autumn of the previous year Muftiyat went through this stage too, and in November the question about the land with package of all the necessary documents was suggested for consideration at the session of the city council again. From this moment it was clear that the capital deputies are not going to approve the decision of their predecessors. First hearing of the project which took place in November was stopped without discussion, saying that there are no representatives of the side interested present at the session, and this is a sign of disrespect to the deputies. Second consideration was postponed to the end of the month, but neither participation at the deputies’ meeting of the first vice-chairman of Majlis R. Chubarov, nor the head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea E. Ablayev, nor the head of the city committee on the matters of religion Vladimir Maliborsky influenced the favour of the deputies. The question was denied again. The choice of the arguments against the building was like “it is not permitted to build there, because this land is located in sanitary zone of a tank” or “this is our answer to your self-usurpation”.
All efforts of Muftiyat to persuade the city council were in vain. Arguments of the mayor G. Babenko, who tried to convince the deputies to be consecutive and request of vice-chairman of Majlis R.Ilyasov to meet at the end of December for extra session and to make gift for Muslims, taking their decision before the holiday of Kurban Bayram did not bring any results, too.
However, after some time the deputies after all made the “gift” for Muslims. Symbolically, the third discussion of the question took place at the 10th of January, when New Year according to Muslim calendar is celebrated. At this time the land for the mosque was assigned, but not at Yaltinskaya, 22, but at Lugovaya, 6. It is not important, that the land is located at the opposite end of the city, for all in all everything comes together: the size is the same – 2,7 ha, and the riding road is nearby. And in order not to return to the topic the deputies forbade to hand the land at Yaltiskaya to anyone, too. Majlis and Muftiyat were filled with indignation by this decision and they promised to bring the matter to the court. “This is the top of cynicism, the crux of the matter was not considered and the deputies took an absurd decision”, informed “1K” first vice-chairman of Majlis Refat Chubarov.
Moreover, there are other antagonists of building the mosque on the new place. At the 7th of July 2006 permission to the co-ordination of documents for the land located at address Lugovaya street, 6, was given to OAO “Building company of trade unions of MIA” with an aim of building a house for militia employees. And earlier there appeared small stoves of self-usurpations. In order to build assembly mosque Muftiyat has, first of all, to take the land from their brothers in faith and than to protect it from militia. As a result it may happen that the deputies changed their mind again and after agreement in all instances they will suggest new, third, fourth, etc. variant of the mosque’s location. Agree that something refined Jesuit is present in all this.
