A protest meeting against vandalism acts towards the Crimean Tatar holy places had taken place on May 6 in village of Tav-Badraq (Skelyaste), Bakhchisarai.
As QHA is informed by Mr. Ahtem Çiygöz, head of the Bakhchisarai regional majlis, about 300 villagers of Tav-Badraq and neighbouring villages gathered near the village council’s building to express their own anguish and indignation at acts of vandalism made on the night of May 3 in the Moslem cemetery.
“All people said about their anguish and indignation caused by these facts of jeer at the deceaseds” – told majlis head.
It will be recalled that on the night of May 3 vandals threw down and spilled paint on several tombstones.
Ahtem Çiygöz informed one of vandals is detained at the present, an investigation is launched now.
According to him, protesters met with local officials and district militia officer. “People appealed to law machinery and authorities with demand to launch a prompt investigation of vandalism facts and fomentation of interethnic discord” – A. Çiygöz noted.
He added: “People demanded from village mayor to convene a villagers’ gathering to talk about situation is emerging in order to prevent such incidents in the future, for stopping of rowdyism towards the Crimean Tatars”.
According to head of the regional majlis, at given moment, session of village council goes on where time and place of villagers’ gathering will be fixed.
