A hunger strike of the participants of the Crimean Tatar protest action near the Ukrainian government’s building in Kyiv is stopped yesterday, on May 27.
QHA is informed about this by one of protesters, Deputy Head of the Crimean Tatar NGO Avdet Nariman Potel.
According to him, they decided this after considering and signing of draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministries of Ukraine on allocation of land plots in Crimea that was prepared by the land commission headed by the Environment Minister of Ukraine Heorhii Fylypchuk.
As Potel informs, after the governmental sitting a meeting of ‘protest glades’ participants with H. Fylypchuk had taken place during which the Crimean Tatars made their own offers concerning a procedure of execution of the resolution. N. Potel explained given suggestions were made because some procedures should be carried out within one month.
Also public figure states their action in Kyiv goes on and it will finish when a draft resolution with amendments of the land commission will be approved. According to N. Potel, this issue will be considered during the Ukrainian government sitting today. After adoption of the land commission’s routine, its members will come to Crimea to inspect those areas in question.
It will be recalled that on May 15 six Crimean Tatars among from the protesters went on a hunger strike. Bureaucrats’ inactivity was as a cause of such drastic measure. More one man joined to hunger strikers later.
On May 19 hunger strikers passed to more tough form of protest: recumbent hunger strike.
Three hunger strikers including two women were hospitalised.
Number of the Crimean Tatar hunger strikers reached 16 people by May 25.
It should be noted the action participants state in the event if the authority will not keep their word again a hunger strike will be resumed in more mass form.
