Central authorities ignore regional Crimean problems and a question on land allocation under building of the Cathedral mosque in Simferopol, too. The chief of the Central Administrative Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea Gennady Moskal stated such an opinion in his interview to QHA.
As he said, in the end of Leonid Kuchma's 10-year-old presidency people hoped that at power change there will be changes to the best, however many hopes were not justified.
"Three-four times Kuchma met the Crimean Tatars – representatives of public, religious organizations", tells G.Moskal. "How many times met the Crimean Tatars Yushchenko? – One time. Or, maybe, never, like Kuchma".
Thus, the chief of the Crimean police noticed that if at the president Kuchma questions were solved at the rate of 10-15 %, the present authorities do not solve them at all.
"Authorities in Kiev are engaged in clarifying their own relationships. Obviously they have no time to pay attention to regions, including Crimea", Moskal said. "Though out of all regions of Ukraine, I consider, Crimea should be given more attention by bodies of central authorities".
"What law for Crimea was adopted lately? – No any. Crimea has no even base laws as such, like, for instance, Zakarpatye or any other region", the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Autonomy added.
Let's remind that in August the vice-president of Mejlis of the Crimean-Tatar people Refat Chubarov declared that the authorities of Simferopol offer a new site for building of the Cathedral mosque to delay the beginning of the building for 3-4 years. He also noticed that on land registration Muslims spent about four years.
On July, 13, at the session of the Council of Churches of the Country in the Cabinet of Ministers Ukraine, the Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko promised to consider main problems of the Crimean Muslims and to promote their decision.
In April, 2009, the constant representative of the President of Ukraine in the ARC Leonid Zhunko at the meeting with the members of the Mejlis expressed an unequivocal position of the President on this point in question, "The mosque should be built on the place which was chosen and confirmed by the decision of the Simferopol City Council". The problem which appeared with assignment of the land area, L.Zhunko named "tricks of various political and economic structures".
The City Council of Simferopol postponed consideration of the question of building of the Cathedral mosque till the autumn.
