More than 1,5 thousand Muslims gathered in a mosque of the Islamic Social Cultural Centre of Kiev for a festive prayer on the occasion of Kurban-Bayram (Id al-Adha), one of the two most esteemed Muslim holidays of all over the world which is celebrated in 70 days (according to the Muslim lunar calendar) after the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

As the head of the Kiev organization "An-Nur", which is a part of the All-Ukraine Association of Social Organizations "Аlraid", Muhammad Egbariya said to QHA, at 9am in the mosque of the Islamic Cultural Centre started the festive prayer after which the gathered congratulated each other on the holiday.

In the cultural part of the action was planned the special program on acquaintance of all the present with the holiday and traditions, the entertaining program for children and adults, and the performance of folklore collectives.

Muslims of Kiev, as well as their coreligionists all over the world, in these holidays sacrifice for the Almighty (kurban) a ram, a sheep, a goat, a cow or a camel of the best quality and age, and leave one third of it to themselves and the family, one third they give to the relatives, and the rest distribute to the poor.

As the head of the "An-Nur" Organization stated, for the second day, on November 28, the meat of the sacrificed animals will be packaged and sent to the needy.

According to Egbariya, the people who are not able to make sacrifice ceremony give money to representatives of the organization on which they buy sacrificial animals.

Also for the second day of a holiday in the ICC of Kiev was organized a cinema for children.
