The appearance of so-called “the Cossacks” in Crimea is inspired by the Crimean Tatar example. QHA is reported about it by the President of the Centre for Middle Eastern Studies, Dr. Oleksandr Bohomolov.

“I am under the impression that the «Cossacks’ movement» is motivated by obvious ethnic solidarity, which is demonstrated by the Crimean Tatars. Ethnic solidarity is one of causes of «the Cossacks’ appearance» in Crimea. It was inspired by the Crimean Tatar example” – the expert stressed.

Also Dr. O. Bohomolov names the “Cossacks’ phenomenon” in Crimea as “Neo-Cossacks” because this movement has no the historical roots in Crimea.
