Passengers of the Ukrainian railway have possibility to go in special compartments - only for women or only for men. Separate compartments are offered in eight trains of the Southern, Lvov, Odessa and Pridneprovsky railway.
As it is informed in the official site of Ukrzaliznytsya, it is possible to take use such compartments in a train № 63/64 “Kharkov - Kiev”, the Southern railway, № 91/92 “Kiev - Lvov” and № 49/50 “Truskavets - Kiev”, the Lvov railway, № 105/106 “Odessa - Kiev”, № 59/60 “Odessa - Kharkov”, № 637/638 “Odessa – Znamenka”, № 661/662 “Odessa - Kiev”, Odessa railways and № 63/64 “Dnepropetrovsk - Odessa”, the Pridneprovsky railway.
Possibility to buy tickets in separate compartments is added in the computer program on sale of railway tickets since 2001. The first experiment on introduction of separate compartments was conducted some years ago in a train Kharkov - Kiev.
For the Ukrainian Muslims presence of the service very important, after all stay in a close premise with persons of an opposite sex creates certain discomfort for believers.
Separate compartments for men and women exist in the majority of the Muslim countries. It is practiced in Europe, too. They will never sell tickets in one sleeping compartment to the passengers of different sex in Bulgaria, Spain and Poland. They are going to introduce separate compartments in Japan.
