Interim results of the public poll conducted by the Religious Administration of Muslims of Crimea (RAMC) have been summed up during the meeting of the Supervisory Council for the Cathedral mosque construction on September 19.
According to a member of the Supervisory Council, First Vice-Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mr. Refat Chubarov, as of September 19 they processed 113 questionnaries.
The questionnaries contain three questions: In which architectural style Cathedral mosque should be?, select a sketch plan from among the proposed ones, Are you ready to assist in the construction of the mosque?
According to the results, the most popular styles are traditional Crimean Tatar architectural style (66 votes), traditional Islamic style (37 votes) and modern style (19 votes).
Sketches № 7, 4 and 10 of the Cuma Cami mosque received 25, 23 and 20 votes respectively.
In addition, 55 people said they are ready to assist financially in the construction of the mosque, 35 people are willing to help in some other ways, 18 people answered they are not ready to help.
The RAMC stressed that these results are not final and there are more 20 questionnaries to be processed.
The Supervisory Council decided to postpone the consideration of the issue for September 22 in order to select the projects for the second elimination round. It is also planned to familiarize the architects with conditions and requirements for the next stage of the competition.
Some members of the Supervisory Council suggested including to the second stage the sketch plan № 2 designed in the modern style.
As reported, 14 sketch plans for the construction of Cathedral mosque have been presented to the public at the Ivan Franko’s Republican Universal Library (Simferopol) on September 12.
