The President Victor Yushchenko congratulated Muslims of Ukraine on the holiday of the Holy Month of Ramadan and the beginning of the Muslim fast. The main Service of the Information Policy of the Secretary of the Head of the State informs on it.
"Time of a prayer and a fast is filled with the deep spiritual content; it strengthens faith, gives power and hope for the happy future.
I sincerely wish all of us faith in the Almighty and love for the near. I am convinced that together we will overcome all disorders and difficulties, and we will make Ukraine successful and prospering", is said in congratulation of the President to the Muslims of Ukraine.
As it was previously stated, the Council of Representatives of Spiritual Managements and Centers of Muslims of Ukraine declared Friday, August, 21, to be the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan in Ukraine.
The fast for Muslims is purification and perfection of one's spiritual qualities. During the fasts from sunrise to sunset believers refuse from food, drink and intimate relations. The main mission of the fast is to bring the believer closer to the Almighty by restraint of passions.
