In fact, Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians always lived side by side and were always together. This idea of cultural proximity became the base of project logo “Dree Crimea”, which was presented in Kyiv, Mr.Andriy Yarmolenko, graphic designer, art-director at “Ukrainian Weekly” and author of the logo mentioned above, said.

He stated that one can see a lot of coincidences of ornaments embroidered at the wedding towels in Crimea and Southern Ukraine, for instance, in Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson regions.

“We can see family tree both in Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian ornaments: strong roots, and then the trunk, and the branches. We see the same in Ukrainian ornaments, so I decided to draw it on the logo. Both Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian, Crimean peninsula grows from the same roots. I wanted to demonstrate that Crimea is Ukrainian land, and Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians make one political nation. I wanted to demonstrate the unity of the two peoples. And, of course, we’ll fight for Ukrainian Crimea,” — the artist said.

Besides, according to the artist, he picked colors that can be seen both on Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar flags.
