Crimean Tatar leader: our moral obligation to support the Uyghurs

To stop the repressions against the people of Eastern Turkestan – the Uyghurs, such demand was set up by participators of a protest meeting that took place beside the Embassy of China in Ukraine on July 17.

Protesters demanded to stop genocide against the Uyghur people and called to bring to responsibility of the Chinese authorities for violation.

About 100 people, who are indignant at the Chinese communist regime’s attitude towards the Uyghurs and the fact of suppression of reliable information of real situation in the region, took part in a meeting organized by initiative of the Majlis of Crimean Tatar people. This initiative was supported by the Crimean Tatar students who study in Kyiv, NGO Crimean Tatar clannishness in Kyiv as well as the Kyiv’s Marhamat Moslem community.

In particular, the head of the Kyiv’s Marhamat Moslem community Ilzim hajji Tolstyakov stated: 'We are here to support the brotherly people, the Moslems of Eastern Turkestan. The China’s government must hear the world community’s opinion and stop harassment against the Uyghurs'.

Meeting participants adopted their petition with demands to the Chinese authorities to stop genocide against the Uyghur people and settle this conflict by negotiations. Protesters commissioned to the Chairman of the Majlis of Crimean Tatar people, MP Mustafa Jemil to hand over a petition to the official representatives of the Chinese Embassy. Unfortunately, the Chinese diplomats refused to meet with the Crimean Tatar leader. Given meeting lasted several hours however nobody of the Chinese diplomats find time for meeting with Mustafa Jemil and a meeting participators.
