Muftiyat announces beginning of second round of contest on Cathedral mosque sketches

The Supervisory Council for the Cathedral mosque construction has announced the second round of the architectural competition for the best sketches. The appropriate decision at the Supervisory Council’s meeting was taken on September 28.

The second round will be held from September 29 till October 29, 2011. Results will be announced not later than November 12 this year.

According to the procedure adopted, the second round will be closed and involve three sketches (№ 2, 4 and 7) that passed the preferential voting.

The meeting participants approved terms and conditions of the second round of the architectural competition.

In addition, there was formed a jury of 17 people, including members of the Supervisory Council, specialists in the sphere of construction, representatives of the city and republican authorities. In particular, the jury is composed of the Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people, MP Mustafa Dzhemilev, Mufti of Crimean Muslims hajji Emirali Ablaev, First Vice-Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, veteran of the Crimean Tatar national movement Ayshe Seitmurat, Deputy Head of the Council of Ministers of Crimea – Minister of Regional Development and Housing and Communal Services of Crimea Aziz Abdullah, Chancellor of the Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University Prof. Fevzi Yaqubov, Honoured Artist of Ukraine Hayder Aliev and others.

The Supervisory Council decided to award cash prize for the winners: 8,000 hryvnas for the 1st place, 6,000 hryvnas for the 2nd place and 4,000 hryvnas for the 3rd place.
