A conflict situation appears in Ay-Vasil village, Yalta: a playground was established on the territory of the old Moslem cemetery. In order to solve this problem, local inhabitants have applied more than once to local authorities that were as initiators to install a playground but all their efforts were unsuccessful.

In connection with this, Ay-Vasil dwellers had to inform about given problem the Yalta Mayor Serhii Braiko.

Thus, on September 24 decision to enclose and to debar further development of this playground was made during a meeting with the Yalta Mayor that was initiated by the Crimean Tatar NGO Qoydeshler (Fellow villagers). QHA is informed about this by Qoydeshler leader Ibragim Voyennyi.

According to him, an installation of playground was made by representative of local self-government Lyubov Honcharova and leader of the Yalta branch of “For human rights” Party Yurii Kovalyov on September 20 of this year. At the same time, their activities were not coordinated with Crimean Tatar population, the Yalta regional majlis and the Yalta Department on Interethnic Relations and the Formerly Deported Citizens Matters. Also there is no permission of the Yalta city council.

“These acts of Honcharova and Kovalyov are evident provocation and they have drawn a wide response among local Moslem population” – noted Ibragim Voyennyi.

He also told a park zone with the memorial devoted to Ay-Vasil dweller, the national hero of the Republic of Poland Umer Aqmolla – (Mishka-Tatar) and victims of the Stalin regime will be established on the cemetery’s territory.

“Moreover, a playground is near working cemetery and high-voltage power line passes through it. This contradicts safety standards” – added NGO leader.
