The Simferopil city council deputies will return to the issue of parcelling for the Cathedral mosque construction in autumn. It was announced at the conclusion of the 49th regular session of the City Council of V convocation, July 23, QHA reports.
“This is a topical issue for Simferopil. It should be to fish or cut bait” –the secretary of the City Council Lyudmila Pyhtyeyeva said and stated that it is necessary to hold public hearing on this issue and to render it on the session.
The City Mayor Henadii Babenko said that the antagonisms on this issue arise only in determining the mosque location.
“It is understandable, the fact that the Cathedral mosque should be in Simferopil. Arguments arose because of place” - Babenko said.
According to the mayor, employees of oncological and children's infectious diseases hospitals as well as local residents are against the mosque construction on Yaltinska Street.
Moreover, Babenko stated that mosque construction cannot be built of those dimensions, which are planned on Yaltinskaya street.
“If we talk about that place, so it may not be compatible to those dimensions what we are talking about” - the mayor explained.
“Just after the deputies will come from holidays we will come back to this issue and will consider taking into account the wishes of the inhabitants of the city and all the processes that occur” - Babenko has said.
