Ukrainian peacemakers satisfied request of the head and Mullah of the refugee camp for help in a mosque building

Ukrainian peacemakers, as a part of the Lithuanian group on restoration of the Gor province in Afghanistan, assisted in mosque building in the camp of refugees "Karim Dad" in the city of Chagcharan.

The captain of the second rank Yury Olefirenko and the major Peter Maleev satisfied the request of the head and the Mullah of the camp of refugees for help in mosque building, the press-service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informs on Wednesday, July, 22.

After carrying out of the meeting of representatives of a local community organized by Ukrainian officers with peacemakers of the Armed Forces of Denmark, the Danish officers agreed to grant material aid in building.

Yu. Olefirenko and P. Maleev made the engineering design of a mosque which was subsequently confirmed by the management of the Ministry of Defense of Denmark. From the Danish party were transferred necessary means for building,

After receiving the permission of local authorities the Ukrainian military men organized delivery of building materials and adjusted cooperation with one of local engineers.

The Ukrainian peace-making personnel are a part of the International Forces of Assistance to Safety in Afghanistan since May, 2007. Now the Ukrainian peace-making personnel consist of ten officers. The Ukrainian military men carry out peace-making tasks together with military men of Lithuania, Denmark, Croatia and Georgia.
