Chubarov: Conference Of Pro-Russian Movement “Qırım” Failed

Refat Chubarov

Mr.Refat Chubarov, Head of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis on his Facebook Page called the Pro-Russian conference of interregional Crimean Tatar public movement “Qırım” a “total failure”. He confirmed small number of delegates from Crimean Tatar Kurultai present at the conference, and criticised the statements of Mr.Remzi Ilyasov, Head of Crimea’s Russian State Council.

— Pro-Russian conference of interregional Crimean Tatar public movement “Qırım” which was to discuss a “wide range of topical issues of Crimean Tatar people” was doomed to fail. It became clear as early as on July 23, when Head of this union and Head of Crimea’s Russian State Council Remzi Ilyasov publicly claimed that “Crimean Tatar people feel no discrimination” during his meetings with French MPs.

Mr.Chubarov also recalls numerous facts of discrimination and pressure towards Crimean Tatars during the peninsula-s Russian occupation. He also noted that there were less than two dozen delegates on the conference.

At the same time, preparations for World Crimean Tatar Congress are on the home straight. Thus, official Facebook page of Crimean Tatar Mejlis, Qırımtatar Milliy Meclisi, informs that the registration of delegates is closed. In order to become a delegate, one had to be promoted by Crimean Tatar osocial and political organisations, initiatives, movements, funds, Media and artist unions. Steering Committee of the World Crimean Tatar Congress developed a rout to Ankara for each delegation and guest coming from the Ukrainian territory.

Due to certain difficulties of contacting all 200 participants, the Committee asks every Crimean Tatar organisation that registered as a participant of the Congress, to contact the Committee as soon as possible via e-mail  qirim.kongress@gmail.com.

Along with the route information, the participants will also receive draft documents of the Congress.
