Muslim feasts Eid-al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha became official holidays in Crimea. Such decision was carried out at the Crimean Parliament’s session in Simferopol today. 72 deputies voted “for”.

According to the Law On Holidays And Special Dates adopted in the first reading, Muslim holidays were announced day-offs along with the Christian feasts of Trinity and Easter.

Curiously enough, such decisions are carried out by the Crimean authorities along with the increased pressure on the peninsula’s Muslim community. It bears reminding that Crimea is a home for about 400.000 Muslims.
