OSCE Mission’s Worries For Donbass Muslims’ Safety

OSCE Observation Mission for early Presidential Elections of 2014 is concerned about the current situation in Donbass where gypsies and jews are under growing threat, so the Mission questions safety for the rest of the ethnic and religious minority of the region.

Its’ representatives, Mr. Wolfgang Schporrer and Mr. Slavomir Shishka, came to Donetsk Islamic Cultural Centre on April 24 to clarify this issue.

Mufti of RAMU “Umma” Mr. Said Ismagilov assured that there were no threats of other illegal actions against Muslims recently; the guests, however, insister that the community contacted them if anything like that ever happened.


At the same time, they wanted to know whether the Ukrainian Muslims will participate in the forthcoming elections, and if any of the Presidential candidates is eager to stand for the interests of this religious group.
