Today, on October 9, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych makes his working visit to Turkey. He plans to discuss a variety of issues arising between the two countries.

President Yanukovych met Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

The meeting agenda included a road map to bilateral relations of the two nations in the near future. Both parties will deepen economic ties if they reach an agreement on the details. They discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, energy, transport, science, technical and humanitarian areas, the expansion of inter-regional relations and the international affairs.

It bears reminding that the Ukraine-Turkey Bilateral Free Trade Agreement is spoken of since 2006, and actual negotiations started in 2011. The Agreement includes trade in goods and services, rules on competition, dispute settlement, intellectual property protection, conditions of defining the country of origin of goods, etc. Besides, the parties hold regular meetings on different levels; both countries are candidates for EU Associate, too.
